Why Choose ALO?

Counseling That Feels Approachable

Meet from home and settle in. Bring your coffee or tea, keep things relaxed, and feel free to have your pet nearby. All services are structured for those who do not have or prefer not to use insurance; however, we can provide a superbill if you wish to seek an out-of-network reimbursement from your provider.

Real-World Clinical Depth

Our decade of experience comes from emergency care, hospice, palliative, and clinical settings, where tough emotions are lived every day. We are deeply practiced in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy, often blending these with other modalities to best support your journey.

Alaska-Based Telehealth That Feels Personal

In a state where appointments can mean miles, weather, and a full day rearranged, telehealth keeps care simple. Meet from your own space, protect your privacy, and stay consistent without the extra logistics.

You will notice subtle changes that signal therapy is working for you including increased self awareness, learning new skills, improved relationships, and more.

There are a couple important things to consider with online services. In person options would be better suited for someone in crisis or experiencing severe mental illness. You will need stable internet connection, a private place to be during sessions, and a basic understanding of computer technology.

Online therapy is much like in person therapy without the hassle of driving somewhere, finding a babysitter, or taking leave from work. You can join from anywhere that provides privacy, you can bring your cup of coffee, have your pet join us, and make the space comfortable for you!

A support group is not for people looking for therapy. A support group is for those that want to be in the presence of others experiencing similar life challenges. Our support group provides an educational component along with mutual support.

Absolutely, in fact online therapy is best suited for mild to moderate conditions. Everyone has something to gain from counseling.

I understand that life happens and you may need to cancel or change your appointment. I do ask that you give me at least 24 hours of notice when possible. After the first late cancellation I will charge half of the session fee and for missed appointments I will charge the full fee. Our time together is designated for you and I encourage you to prioritize this time for your wellbeing.

At this time I do not bill insurance, however I will provide a superbill that you may submit to your insurance company. The company will reimburse you according to your plan. I recommend calling your insurance company prior to starting services to get clarification on their process.

Set up a free consultation! A big component of therapy is the relationships between client and therapist. We can have a 15 minute consultation to see if we are right for each other. I will also check in periodically to make sure you feel comfortable and understood during our work together.

Ways We Can Work Together

Private Individual Sessions

What would change if you had one hour that was truly yours each week – a place to set the weight down, tell the truth, and stop white knuckling your way through it? This is focused work for anxiety, depression, grief, and life transitions, where we get specific about what’s happening in your days, what you want instead, and what helps you get there. To ensure a comprehensive start, your initial intake session is 60–90 minutes, with subsequent sessions running 50–60 minutes in length.

Caregiver Support Group

When you’re the reliable one, who helps you? This biweekly, closed group is a supportive space for adult caregivers, whether you’re caring for an aging parent, supporting a medically complex loved one, or carrying the day to day responsibility for someone else’s wellbeing. The group runs for 10 weeks with the same members, with a minimum of 4 caregivers to begin and a maximum of 8. Each session includes brief psychoeducation and mutual support around the real topics caregivers face. Use the Contact section to ask questions or sign up.

Consultation Services

When the decisions feel heavy and everyone is looking at you, it helps to have a clear, steady guide. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Erin supports families navigating medically complex situations, including Medical or Financial Power of Attorney questions, guardianship, caregiver respite, and in-home support. Sessions are offered in 30 or 60 minute options, with a per session fee. This is guidance and education, not legal assistance, and referrals to legal professionals can be provided when needed.

About

Hi, I’m Erin Lusk, LCSW

I’m an Alaska-born Licensed Clinical Social Worker, raised in the Mat-Su and now based in Palmer. I started ALO Counseling and Consulting Services, LLC because I wanted to offer care that feels steady, human, and truly supportive, especially in the seasons when life gets heavy. For the past 10 years, my work has been rooted in both clinical and medical settings including emergency care, hospice, palliative care, and home health, where you learn quickly how much it matters to feel heard and not alone.

Outside of work, I’m usually hiking or camping, reading something I can’t put down, or searching for the perfect cup of coffee. I also travel at times and bring my work with me, so we may meet from different places around the globe, with the same commitment to privacy, professionalism, and showing up fully for you.
